August Buch-Kromann is a young Danish conductor and violinist from Copenhagen. He began playing the violin at the age of four and discovered his passion for conducting in 2022 during a workshop with the Sankt Annæ Symphony Orchestra, while studying at Sankt Annæ Gymnasium. Since then, he has dedicated himself to the craft of conducting. After graduating from Sankt Annæ Gymnasium in the summer of 2024, August has continued his musical development under the mentorship of Damian Iorio, with a focus on refining his technique.
In January 2024, he was selected for Dirigentløftet, Denmark’s national talent program for emerging conductors. Through this initiative, he has taken part in masterclasses with several of the country’s leading professional ensembles, including the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, Athelas Sinfonietta, and the Danish National Opera (Den Jyske Opera).
He has also participated in masterclasses with renowned conductors such as Johannes Schlaefli, Alexander Polishchuk, Mark Heron, Dmitry Matvienko, Jorma Panula, and Hartmut Haenchen.
Since 2024, August has served as principal conductor of the Greenlandic choir Aavaat, with whom he has led numerous concerts and appeared in televised performances for the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR), Greenlandic Broadcasting Corporation (KNR), and TV-Glad.
